PiXi AN-006

Using the RS232 Serial Port on the PiXi

The PiXi provides one or two RS232 serial ports one of which is hard-wired to the Raspberry Pi’s RXD/TDX port so no need to mess around with external RS232 level converters because it’s all here…

Plus, use one of the two internal UARTs to add extra serial ports…

… and we’ve not finished there - you can modify the FPGA design to add as many UARTs (using 3.3v or 5v I/O) as you can fit into the design!

Or map any of the internal UARTs of the Raspberry Pi’s RXD/TXD port to a number of GPIO interfaces, some of which can be made to be differential…
