I'm very happy to report that the order for the manufacture / assembly of the first batch of PiXi-200 prototypes went out on the 22nd of November, a little later than planned but we got there in the end. I had hoped to have them back before Christmas but after a couple of short delays and with the Christmas holidays approaching, it's probably going to be the middle of January before we get them back.

Two of the prototypes have already been allocated to be given away to a couple of interested parties, a third has yet to be allocated. If you want a chance to get your hands on one of the prototypes please submit your project idea to pixi_projects@astro-designs.com for a chance of winning the third prototype. Terms and conditions will be posted shortly.

I do plan to post some pictures of a mechanical 'space model' within the next two-three weeks - once I get my hands on the first bare-board from the PCB manufacturers so please watch this space...

I'd love to go back in time to when we first came up with the concept of the PiXi board so that we could publish a few of the thoughts behind the product and take in some ideas from the Raspberry Pi enthusiasts out there. But sadly the product came before the website which makes it a little difficult but we'd still love to hear of any ideas anyone might have. While the design of the prototype is now complete there's still room for improvement in future revisions.

Anyway, our first news item has to be a short one as I should really be pouring over the design files to make sure it's truly ready to send off for manufacture so i'll start by drawing your attention to the Product Specification in the downloads area of the site. We plan to publish a preliminary user manual next so that it might better demonstrate how the product can be used but that's for a later post.
